At BW Tanks, we take customer service very seriously and pride ourselves on our strong delivery record. Tank deliveries can vary, as each tank may have unique specifications. Our sales team will discuss delivery options with you to make the process as simple as possible. We recommend contacting us to confirm delivery times and options once your purchase is complete.
Returns & Exchange Policy
Quality, Cancellation & Returns
1. Warranty on Goods:
Upon delivery, BW Tanks warrants that the goods shall:

Conform to their description as listed on our website or in any brochures, advertisements, or other documentation.

Be of satisfactory quality under the Sale of Goods Act 1979.

Be fit for any stated purpose or any reasonable purpose for which the customer uses the goods according to any specifications.

Be free from material defects in design, materials, and workmanship (excluding minor blemishes or scratches caused during manufacturing, storage, or delivery).

Comply with all applicable UK statutory and regulatory requirements.
2. Consumer Rights:
For customers purchasing for personal use, these warranties are in addition to your legal rights regarding faulty or non-conforming goods. Advice about consumer rights is available from any Citizens’ Advice Bureau or Trading Standards office.
3. Business Purchases:
For customers purchasing for business purposes, all warranties implied by statute or common law are excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law, except as specifically stated.
4. Exclusions:
The warranty does not cover defects caused by:

Use of goods after giving notice of a defect

Fair wear and tear, wilful damage, accidents, or negligence

Misuse or failure to follow the manufacturer's or BW Tanks' instructions

Alterations or repairs carried out by the customer
5. Repaired or Replacement Goods:
These conditions also apply to any repaired or replacement goods supplied.
6. Cancellation & Returns:
For consumer customers wishing to cancel an order or return goods for any reason:

Notify us within 14 days of receipt.

Ensure returned goods are received by us within a further 14 calendar days (30 days for faulty or damaged goods).

Some goods, such as tanks or pumps used with liquids, may not be eligible for cancellation after delivery.
7. Refunds:
Upon receiving returned goods in good condition, BW Tanks will refund the amount paid for the goods. For business customers, the refund will be reduced by the original shipping charge and a restocking/admin fee of 50% + VAT of the order value.
8. Bespoke Goods:
No refunds will be given for goods manufactured to a customer's specification unless the goods are faulty.
Title and Risk
1. Risk:
The risk in the goods passes to the customer on completion of delivery.
2. Title:
Ownership of the goods does not pass to the customer until full payment has been received, including:

The goods themselves

Any other sums due for sales of goods or services to the customer
3. Customer Obligations Prior to Title Transfer:

Hold the goods as a fiduciary bailee
-
Store goods separately and keep them identifiable as BW Tanks property
-
Do not remove or obscure any identifying marks or packaging
-
Maintain goods in good condition and ensure them against all risks
-
Notify BW Tanks immediately of any events affecting the goods

Provide information about the goods as requested, while using them in the ordinary course of business Until ownership passes, the customer must:
4. Recovery of Goods:
If before ownership passes, the customer undergoes insolvency or similar events, BW Tanks may require the return of goods and, if necessary, enter premises to recover them.

Warranty
Every steel tank we supply comes with an 8-year warranty as standard. It’s our way of standing behind the build quality and materials — and giving you confidence that your tank is made to last.
To keep your warranty valid, the tank must be used and maintained correctly. This includes repainting the exterior every 2–3 years and ensuring the tank is not altered or worked on by anyone other than a qualified professional.
The warranty does not cover:

Damage caused by storing corrosive or unsuitable liquids

Wear and tear, accidental damage, or misuse
-
Work carried out by the customer or a third party (other than our delivery team)

Issues arising from not following installation or maintenance guidance
If you believe there’s a defect, let us know as soon as possible and stop using the tank until we’ve had a chance to advise you.
